Prove Rs 3 crore charge, I’ll quit as MLA: Borkar

Threatens defamation suit against Ajay Kholkar over allegations

MAPUSA

RGP national president and MLA Viresh Borkar has thrown down the gauntlet to suspended party treasurer Ajay Kholkar, challenging him to prove the allegation that he accepted Rs 3 crore and declaring that he would resign as MLA if the charge is established. Borkar also threatened to file a defamation suit against Kholkar over the allegations.

“If Kholkar has evidence that I accepted Rs 3 crore, he should make it public. If he proves the charge, I will resign as MLA,” Borkar said, warning that he would not tolerate attempts to tarnish his reputation through what he termed baseless accusations.

Kholkar, however, has dared Borkar to act against him, claiming that he is ready to face the consequences.

In a social media post, he alleged that Borkar had received Rs 3 crore from his friend Girish and said the money could be used to appoint an accountant and an adviser.

“There have been enough warnings. Now go ahead and take action against us,” Kholkar challenged.
